K - CLASS

MATH

1. Use the 4 base math operations correctly to solve a situational problem.

2. Use the appropriate measuring device to solve for time, distance, weight and volume.

3. Identify various energy sources, how they are used,  and conduct experiments demonstrating how each is generated. 

4. Identify the various study areas in science, their purpose and careers that are available in each. 

5. Conduct passion project experiments,  analyze the results and present conclusions verbally and in writing.   

GEOGRAPHY

Grades 4-6

1.  Identify and report on industries and economic sectors in Canada. 

2. Identify and report on the geographic relationship that exists between Canada and the USA.

3. Create a 3-D relief map of a Canadian province. 

4. Examine and report on the Canadian Arctic, its resources and the relationship with other countries in the north. 

5. Examine and report on the management of the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence seaway.  

HISTORY

Grades 4-6

1. Examine and explain the following  periods/civilizations in world history: Egyptian, Roman, Medievil, Ming Dynasty,  Mesozoic Era, and  Renaissance Period. 

2.  Identify the timeline and events for when each province or territory became a part of the Canada.

3.  Research and prepare a report on the formation of the United Nations. 

PHYSICAL EDUCATION

Grades 4-6

 1. Demonstrate understanding of the rules and skills in a variety of common team sports.

3. Research and write a report on a controversial issue in science. 

4. Conduct and report on a passion project scientific experiment. 

5. Demonstrate appropriate safety procedures when conducting experiments.  


SOCIAL STUDIES

Grades 7-8

1. Demonstrate how supply & demand theory affects decision making.

2. Demonstrate the ability to lead a diverse learning group. 

3. Understand the role charitable organizations play in society.  

4. Participate with and report on a charitable organization in a program or fund-raising activity.  

5. Demonstrate an understanding of the various major religious groups. 

6. Demonstrate an understanding of the role of the federal and provincial cabinets, opposition parties,  and  lobby groups.


TECHNOLOGY

Grades 7-8

1.   Design,  build and code complex devices that solve real world problems. 

2. Design and code and app that could be marketable. 

3. Investigate, research and report on the use of artificial intelligent in a specific industry. 

4. Using creativity, design an AI type program in principal only. 

5. Demonstrate the ability to use design software in the preparation of commercial media. 


ART & creativity

Grades 7-8

1. Research and write reports on the various art periods.

2. Research and write reports on unique  global art forms. 

3. Create a variety of art projects with unique mediums. 

4. Explain the creation and history of the Group of 7. 

5. Write a report on an artist who also had a successful career in another area. 

GEOGRAPHY

Grades 7-8

1. Identify the continents and the countries with-in them. 

2. Prepare effective oral presentations on Canadian provinces, including their key geographical features, industries and environmental issues. 

3. Demonstrate how to effectively read and use a map for travel in a city, nationally or internationally.

4. Explore and map appropriately a natural greenspace within the city. 

5.  Research and write a report on a country of choice. 

6. Research and write a report on the oceans. 

HISTORY

Grades 7-8

1.  Research and report on the history of the settlement of Upper and Lower Canada by the French and English. 

2.  Research and report on Canada's role in WW I. 

3. Research and report on major Canadian figures from: politics, culture, sports, and education.

4. Research and report on a historical passion project. 

5. Create a "what-if" scenario for a major historical event in Canadian history and write a creative story about what could have happened. 

HEALTH AND FITNESS

Grades 7-8

1. Lead a group in learning a sport or recreational activity.

2. Explain the effects of unhealthy lifestyle choices. 

3. Create and follow a personal well-being program. 

4. Understand the importance of activities that affect mental health. 

5. Identify resources that can be used for mental and physical health. 

6. Officiate a sport, employing the rules of fairness and demonstrating professionalism.
